Rill Clear Recycled Glass Bottle Vase, Large

The largest Rill, at 56 cm and nearly 40 cm across the belly. This one is floor-scale — beside a chair, in a hearth, at the end of a hallway — and it reads as an object in its own right, which is just as well, because filling it with flowers is an expensive habit.

Recycled glass is not optically clear. Ours carries a faint green cast, a scatter of small bubbles and slight variation in wall thickness, because it is blown by hand into a mould from reclaimed cullet. Empty it weighs 14 lb; full of water it is a two-handed lift. Dried stems, branches or nothing at all suit it better than a full vase of water.
